1. The competition for the award is basically intra-institutional with there being one award per institution.
2. In total a teacher will be evaluated out of 100 marks.
3. The following three areas will be evaluated:
· Academic Work Performance (65 marks)
· Research Work Performance (24 marks)
· Creative Work (11 marks)
4. Academic Work Performance
65 marks of Academic Work Performance will be further divided as follows:
· 25 marks should be given to students evaluation*
· 20 marks should be given to evaluation by superiors (i.e. Vice Chancellor, Dean & Head of the Dept.)
· 20 marks should be given to peers review
5. Research Work Performance
Likewise 24 marks earmarked for research paper publication and supervision of students at different levels will be divided as under:
· 15 marks shall be for Research Publications
· 9 marks shall be for Student’s Supervision

(For the year 2010 Award Nominee will provide face sheet of the research paper for verification. Only those papers will be considered which have been published during the previous three calendar years i.e 2008, 2009 and 2010. No marks will be given to the papers which have only been accepted for publication and not yet been published.)
6. Creative Efforts
Similarly, remaining 11 marks reserved for creative work of the nominee will be distributed as follows:
a. 5 marks for minimum two activities.
b. 8 marks for 3-4 activities.
c. Full marks for more than 4 activities.
7. The Vice Chancellor of University/Degree Awarding Institutions will recommend two top scoring teachers of his University in order of merit alongwith a certificate (Copy attached at Annexure III) clearly indicating score of the teachers evaluated as per above guidelines and ensure that nominee is not involved in plagiarism.
8. There should be no disciplinary proceedings and no adverse remark in the ACRs against a nominee during the last five years.
9. A teacher who has already received a Best Teachers Award will be reconsidered for the said award after 5 years intervening period.
10. The HEC Award Committee will review and will recommend the final names of the selected teachers for the “Best University Teachers Award 2010”.
