Functions of P&D Division
· Formulate and implement development plans of projects executed by Higher Education Commission
· Examine, analyze and appraise the development projects executed by universities/degree awarding institutions
· Advisory Services to universities/degree awarding institutions for formulation of development projects
· Arrange meetings of DDWP (under the chairmanship of Executive Director, HEC)
· Coordinate CDWP/ECNEC/NEC meetings
· Preparation of Public Sector Development Program (PSDP).
· Coordination with Planning Division, Finance Division and AGPR for quarterly release of development grants
· Disbursement of Development Grants
Planning New Institutions
Higher Education Commission is working hard for the improvement of quality education in the country and is very keen to provide access to quality
education in less developed areas.
Since its inception, HEC has established about 31 new universities and more than 50 sub-campuses of the existing universities in public sector throughout
the country. As a step forward, Planning and Development Division has prepared a map to get the clear view of geographical areas where there is a
potential for new institutions
The Division is planning to identify the potential areas where new institutions for higher education can be developed. In this regard P&D Division is
acquiring the discipline wise data of students appeared in higher secondary examination from all the education boards of the country from 2005 to
2009.On the basis of that data P&D division will identify the potential areas where new institution may be developed.
Advisory Services to Higher Education Institutions
P&D plays a momentous role while advocating advisory services for the projects of the universities. It assists in putting up project plans and vision plans
and looks at ways to prepare pre-feasibility, need assessment and proposals. To bridge the gap between vision and project plan P&D is always on
forefront in mentoring the universities.
P&D Division arranged consultative meetings for the universities with the help of professionals from various fields. Kohat University of Science and
Technology (KUST), Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan, Bahauddin Zakarya University Multan, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University Benazirabad were
helped to develop their vision plans and project proposals.
