Introduction

Introduction: 

Online applications are invited from outstanding Pakistani/AJK nationals for the award of scholarships in selected fields for MPhil/MS leading to PhD or PhD in one of the following countries/universities: 

France

Austria

China

Any other country / university subsequently identified by HEC

Germany

Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand

Hanyang University, South Korea

Objective
 
  • To create a critical mass of highly qualified human resource

    To build up the capacity of Universities, Research & Development Organizations and Industries in Pakistan through addition of PhD’s in priority fields.

  • Considerable intellectual activity is expected to be generated through this scheme as groups of scientists, technologists and social scientist would be engaged in publishing their research work. It is expected that good number of papers/studies could be produced annually. The scheme would provide our system an impetus for an out-put and productivity. Major organizations & universities would be increasing their R&D by absorbing specialized trained manpower. A number of new R&D Projects having economic returns can thus be launched.

  • The current scheme would supplement HEC efforts for provision of adequate number of trained PhD manpower, to support technology upgrading, develop high standards of Science  & Technology,  Humanities and Business education/training in Pakistan and to meet the challenging needs of Pakistan’s economy.
Eligibility Criteria

 

Eligibility Criteria:

 
a)
    Pakistani/AJK nationals

b)    Candidates must have minimum sixteen years of education

c)
    Maximum two second divisions throughout the academic career

d)    Maximum age on Wednesday September 07, 2011:
                      
      a)
    40 years for full time regular faculty members of public sector Universities/Colleges and
           employees of the public sector R & D organizations. 

      b)
    35 years for all others.

e)   The candidates must have obtained 50 or above marks (Accumulative Test Score) in the
GAT-General test valid from October 11, 2009

f)     The candidates who are already availing any other scholarship are not eligible to apply

g)    The candidate must have acquired the requisite qualification on or before September 07, 2011

How to Apply
 

  Application Procedure:

  • The following documents are required to be submitted along with the printed copy of online application form:
  • Attested photocopies of all educational testimonials.
  • Attested photocopy of CNIC
  • CV/Resume
  • Research Proposal
  • Attested Copy of GAT (General) result card.
  • Original online Deposit slip of Rs. 200/- (non-refundable) in favor of the Director General Finance, Higher Education Commission, H-9, Islamabad on account number 0112-00500119-01, HBL Aabpara Branch Islamabad as processing fee

Important Note:

  1. All scholarships will be awarded on open merit
  2. Government employees should apply through proper channel
  3. Candidates having MS / MPhil degree (18 years education) will be preferred
  4. Candidates are required to make sure whether their field of subject is being offered in their choice of country/university, otherwise candidate will not be considered for interview.
  5. Candidates are required to indicate the countries/universities of their choice in order of preference in the application form. HEC reserves the right to re-allocate any country / university to the candidate.
  6. Only short listed candidates will be called for interviews 
  7. Short listed candidates will be interviewed by the relevant country selection team for award of scholarship.
  8. Awardees have to execute a bond with the HEC to serve in Pakistan for 5 years after completion of study, preferably in an institution of Higher Education.

    v  GAT (General) tests held on  October 11, 2009, January 10, 2010, April 11, 2010, July 4, 2010, September 19, 2010, October 24, 2010, January 9, 2011, April 10, 2011, July 10, 2011 and August 07, 2011.

  • Language Course Requirements
  • Last date for receipt of applications

    Printed copy of online application form completed in all respects should reach the undersigned latest by Wednesday September 07, 2011 through registered mail or courier service. By hand / Incomplete/  applications received after due date will not be entertained.

  • Application Processing Fee:
