This dataset consists of the distribution of education institutions in Pakistan imparting tertiary level education during 2008-09. Information related to Public Sector Universities was gathered directly from the universities on a simple Proforma whereas Attestation and Accreditation Division of HEC, which is responsible for university accreditation, provided relevant data of Private Sector Universities.
Classifications used:
Affiliated College means an educational institution affiliated to the University but not maintained or administered by it (HEC, 2007).
Constituent College means an educational institution, by whatever name described, maintained and administered by the University. HEC (2007), Guidelines for the Establishment of a New University or an Institution of Higher Education (Fifth Edition), Published by Higher Education Commission,H-9, Islamabad, Pakistan.
Students enrolled in Approved Study Centres and Private Sector Partners get degree of Allama Iqbal Open University and Virtual University, respectively.
Information of main campus has been updated for the year 2009-10. And its province-wise distribution is based on the area of main seat.
