This program is for the Permanent Faculty Members (Professors and Associate Professors) of public and approved for Government funding private sector universities and degree awarding institutions as well as employees of equivalent grade of R&D institutions. This program will enable them to pursue their scholarly interests and enhance their professional growth so that they may present themselves with renowned vigor, perspective and insight at pedagogical and research forums.

Under this program, the Faculty Members at the levels of Professors and Associate Professors and employees of equivalent grade of R&D institutions can avail the sabbatical leave foreign fellowship award for a period of 03 to 06 moths and a local fellowship for a period of 06 to 09 months.

·     Maintenance allowance will be given @ US$ 1200 (US Dollar twelve hundred) per month. ·     Economy class return air ticket. ·     User charges such as fellowship fee/bench fee up to US $5000 (US Dollars Five Thousand) will be paid to the host institution, if required. ·     Fellowship abroad award period can be from 03 to 06 months.

·     Monthly Fellowship for a Professor @ Rs. 35,000/- per month. ·     Monthly Fellowship for an Associate Professor @ Rs. 25,000/- per month. ·     Boarding Allowance @ Rs. 5,000/- per month. ·     Local traveling (air-fare/road/train) as per entitlement. ·     Research grant supplement to a maximum of Rs. 65,000/- per scholar ·     Overhead charges to the host university @ 10% of the total amount ·     Fellowship award period can be from 06 to 09 months.

 

** In case the Local Fellowship is applied for a university in the same city where the parent university of applicant is situated, then the local traveling and boarding allowance would not be admissible.

The objective of the Sabbatical/Duty Leave Fellowship Program (HEC) is to accelerate the quantum of research and development at the public sector universities & in the R&D organizations that will play a catalytic role in the technological & socioeconomic development of the country in the years to come. These programs are meant for the professional growth of the university Faculty Members and Researchers.

1.   Sabbatical/Duty Leave Fellowship is available to full time Permanent Faculty Members (Professors and Associate Professors) of public sector universities and degree awarding institutions or Scientists of equivalent grade from R&D institutions and Government of Pakistan approved private sector universities and degree awarding institutions. The candidate should have a PhD degree with at least one research publication after PhD from the university / degree awarding institution where he/she is employed.

2.   Non-PhD Associate Professors and Professors or Scientists of equivalent grade from R&D institutions with 10 years of teaching and research experience may also apply for the program.

1. The faculty member besides making arrangements with the host university will also be completing all the formalities of obtaining Sabbatical/Duty Leave Fellowship from the parent university.
2. The Sabbatical/Duty Leave Fellowship period has to be spent (specifically) at a university other than parent University/DAI with department/institution relevant to the applicant’s research domain.
3. Parent University/Institution will forward the cases duly signed by VC/Rector/Head of Institute to HEC for consideration.
4. There is no deadline for submission of applications.
5. Incomplete applications will not be entertained.
