| Introduction |
Higher Education Commission has launched a programme to provide funds to public sector universities/degree awarding institutions for repair, maintenance, purchase of spare parts and up-gradation of expensive scientific laboratory equipment lying inoperative for want of repair/spare parts.

| Objectives |
Objective of the programme is to facilitate the Public Sector Universities/Intuitions for the repair, maintenance and up-gradation of laboratory equipments.

| Eligibility Criteria |
- Faculty members/scientists of public sector universities/degree awarding Institutions are eligible to apply.
- The equipment applied for should not be older than 5 years.
- The equipment once repaired through this program will not be eligible to reapply during same financial year.
- Difference between the actual cost of the equipment and the cost of repair should be in the ratio of 30% ~ 40%, but not over the actual cost.
- Preference will be given to those applying for the first time.
- The equipment should be installed specifically in laboratory and should be in use of even number students and researchers
- The proposal for grant must be furnished on the prescribed form (all columns to be filled in) carrying signatures and official seal of the respective Vice-Chancellor/Rector of the university or Director in case of a degree awarding institution.
- Furnish separate request for different equipment from the university concerned with detail of relevant fault/ problems.
- Pre Technical / fault report in details must be attached with quotation provided by the vendor for the university concerned.
- If related equipment falls on three quotations, three reports from different vendors must be attached separately with application.
- The proposal for an individual grant should not be less than Rs. 60,000 and not more than Rs.1.0 million.
- A department can submit more than one demand but each should be on a separate form and with in the above prescribed limits.
- Quotations valid for 6 months from three registered with GST and NTN department, suppliers/firms must be attached with each proposal. A sole representative ship certificate may be attached in case of proprietary items.

- Public Sector University/Degree Awarding Institution and Faculty Members/ Scientists are eligible to apply.
- The proposal for grant must be furnished on the prescribed form (all columns to be filled in) carrying signatures and official seal of the respective Vice-Chancellor of the university or Director, in case of a Degree Awarding institution.
- Separate request shall be furnished for each equipment in the laboratory.
- The proposal for an individual grant should fall in the range of Rs.60,000/- (minimum) to Rs. 10,00,000/-(maximum). Quotations (in original) valid for six months from three suppliers must be attached with each proposal for a grant. A sole representative-ship certificate may be attached in case of proprietary items.
