Role of Office
The office of the Advisor (Human Resource Development) supervises, manages and implements the programs of the Human Resource Division of the Higher Education Commission. This Division is primarily concerned with the development of human resources for institutions of higher studies, R&D bodies & other organizations through the implementation of a range of scholarship and fellowship programs. Other programs administered by the division include the Foreign Faculty Hiring Program, the Placement of Pakistani PhD from Abroad Program, the Linkage Program between local and foreign universities for faculty exchange and research development, and promotion of research in the Social Sciences Sector.
About the Advisor HRD
The current Advisor of HRD is Professor Dr Riaz Hussain Qureshi. Professor Qureshi completed his MSc in Agriculture from the West Pakistan University of Agriculture in 1964, and PhD from University College of North Wales, Bangor, UK, in 1969. During a long and distinguished career as an academic and researcher at the University of Agriculture, Professor Qureshi successfully supervised 75 MS. and 12 PhD scholars and published 175 research papers as well as books. Dr. Qureshi is a Fellow of the Pakistan Academy of Sciences and was declared Scientist of the Year by the Academy in the year 2000. He is also a recipient of Norman Borlaug Award and Civil Award of Pride of Performance. Professor Dr Qureshi returned to the University College of North Wales to do his post-doctoral research in 1983, and also conducted further post-doctoral research at Colorado State University, USA, in 1989. His career as a faculty member at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad culminated in his appointment as Vice Chancellor in 1999, a position which he served until his appointment at the Higher Education Commission in 2004 |
