The Higher Education Commission has launched an in-country “Short-term Teacher Exchange Program (STEP)” to facilitate the mobility of faculty members and Professional to visit Public Sector Universities / Degree Awarding institutions for a duration of 1 to 4 weeks.  

A sizable number of highly qualified teachers and scientists are available in universities; however they can not easily afford to stay away from their own departments for a long period of time due to their responsibilities and assignments. Their expertise, however, can be availed if they are invited for shorter duration to conduct experiments,help in the curriculum development, deliver lectures on a particular topic or provide assistance in the development of respective departments.

Under this program, teachers will be invited by Public Sector universities, with the permission of parent universities / institutions / R&D Organizations. 

The program provides for improvement of quality of education along with increasing external and internal efficiency of university education. It also envisages to upgrade quality of research through staff development and provision of better facilities.
