Islamabad/Karachi, May 26, 2025: Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan conducted training sessions on Pakistan Qualification Register (PQR) in Karachi for focal persons of universities in Sindh. The training aimed to enhance the accuracy and transparency of qualification data within PQR.
PQR is a centralized database of qualifications maintained by HEC. It serves as a tool for verifying academic qualifications offered by HEC-recognized institutions. It ensures that degree programmes meet national standards, enabling students, employers, and universities to easily interpret and verify qualifications. Additionally, it aligns all qualifications with National Qualifications Framework, which provides structure, standards, and the intended outcomes for various qualifications.
During the training, the participants were informed about the procedures of compiling and submitting qualification data in PQR. The session covered essential documentation requirements, including No Objection Certificates for levels 7 and 8 programmes, minutes from the academic council, and advertisements for the first student intake. The participants received practical training on using the Internal Portal for Universities (IPFU), a platform that streamlines data entry for institutions, campuses, departments, and qualifications.
The key focus of the training was the role of PQR focal persons, who liaison between different university offices and HEC. Their responsibilities include keeping PQR up to date and ensuring that academic programmes are properly documented. The session addressed common issues faced by focal persons during the verification process, such as inconsistent program names or missing documents. The training provided real-world solutions to help participants effectively navigate these challenges.
The training reaffirmed HEC's commitment to fostering a transparent and accountable education system aligned with international best practices. The universities were asked to complete the data cleansing of all postgraduate programmes and were encouraged to maintain regular, accurate communication with the Commission.
