HEC has established National Centers (Consortia of multiple Labs from different universities) on Cyber Security (NCCS), Robotics and Automation (NCRA), Artificial Intelligence (NCAI), Cloud Computing and Big Data (NCBC), GIS and Space Applications (NCGSA) and Livestock Breeding, Genetics and Genomics (NCLBG&G) through Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) during FY 2018-19.The primary purpose of these national centers is to focus on Research & Development and Human Resource Development in the specialized field of Cyber Security (CS), Big Data (BD), Cloud Computing (CC), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Robotics and Automation (RA), GIS and Space Applications (GSA), Livestock Breeding Genetics and Genomic (LBG&G) and their practical applications which are important components of Vision 2025. The objectives of these Centres are primarily including building national capacity to carry out R&D in respective modern technology, solution of local problems, provision of high-valued shared services to academia and industrial partners, development of the advanced workforce through training and applied work. For the industry, it will provide technology and consultation to shift to industry 4.0. The idea is to provide a platform for boosting CS, BD, CC, AI, RA, GSA and LBG&G related R&D to have strong footings at global scale, reduce skill gap, and make Pakistan self-sustainable in these domain.
