1. How can candidates Registered on Portal?
i. Candidates can visit https://etc.hec.gov.pk/#/webpage to initiate registration
process.
ii. Log-in Process: Candidates must create their profile using their own valid CNIC
number. Candidates below 18 years of age should use their NADRA Juvenile
Card/B-Form number. Once created, the CNIC/NADRA Juvenile Card / B-Form
number cannot be changed. Candidates are advised not to create duplicate
profiles using different CNIC numbers or the CNICs of parents, siblings, or
relatives.
iii. Entry of Name: The name must be entered exactly as it appears on the Matric
Certificate. The name field on the portal consists of four parts: Title, First Name
(Mandatory), Middle Name, and Last Name (Mandatory).
iv. Single Name Candidates: Candidates who have only one name (e.g.,
“Muhammad”) may select “Mr.” as Title, enter “Mr.” again in the First Name field,
leave the Middle Name blank, and write “Muhammad” in the Last Name field”.
v. Profile Picture: Upload a recent passport-size photograph with a blue or white
background.
vi. Gender: Select the gender carefully.
vii. Date of Birth: Enter the date of birth exactly as mentioned on the Matric
Certificate.
viii. Father’s Information: Enter the full and correct name of the father as per the
Matric Certificate, along with the father’s CNIC number.
ix. Candidates must review their personal details, such as Name, Father’s Name,
CNIC/NADRA Juvenile Card/B-Form number, and profile picture before saving
their profile.
x. Once registration on the portal is completed, the candidate’s profile will be
locked, and no further changes will be allowed.
2. How Can Candidates Lodge a Complaint?
i. The Education Testing Council has established a Complaint Management System.
Candidates can submit complaints online through https://onlinehelp.hec.gov.pk/
ii. For immediate assistance, candidates may contact ETC at 051-111-119-432 or
0334-1119432.
iii. Complaints sent via email will not be entertained.
3. Test Categories
i. Education Testing Council conducts the following standardized test:
- • Undergraduate Studies Admission Test (USAT)
- • Higher Education Aptitude Test (HAT)
- • Law Admission Test (LAT)
- • Law Graduate Assessment Test (LAW-GAT)
ii. These tests are conducted quarterly throughout the calendar year.
iii. ETC also conducts recruitment tests for various organizations.
4. Tests Types
i. USAT (Undergraduate Studies Admission Test):
USAT is conducted in six (06) Categories. Candidates should choose a category
based on their academic stream.

ii. HAT (Higher Education Aptitude Test):
HAT is designed for candidates seeking admission in MS/MPhil and PhD programs.
The HAT score is also valid for HEC Postgraduate Scholarships.
iii. HAT is conducted in five (05) categories base on based on the candidate’s field of
study (after 16 years of education).

iv. Change of Subject Category (USAT & HAT):
Candidates must select the test
category carefully according to their subject or specialization. Once a category is
selected, it cannot be changed later.
5. Test Calendar
i. ETC follows an annual Test Calendar. The Test Calendar for 2025 is available at
https://www.hec.gov.pk/english/services/students/etc/Pages/Test-Calendar.aspx
6. How to Apply for Test?
i. Candidates may log in to their ETC profile. The latest available test link will appear
on their dashboard. Click the link to apply.
ii. Test City Selection: Tests are conducted in major cities across Pakistan.
Candidates may select a test city from the available list. Once selected, the test
city cannot be changed after registration.
iii. Test Fee Payment: Test fees can be paid through 1Link/1Bill services using the
generated Consumer Number.
iv . A Consumer Number can be generated by clicking the “Online Payment” button
under the “My Application” section.
v. After successful payment, log in again in the profile and click the “Verify
Payment” button under “Online Payment”.
vi. Upon verification, the application status will change to “Submitted”.
vii. All generated Consumer Numbers will automatically expire upon the closing date
and time of registration.
viii. Candidates with “Pending Payment” status should try another banking app or e-wallet to complete payment successfully before the end date.
ix. In case of any issue with online fee payment or consumer number generation,
candidates should lodge a complaint at (https://onlinehelp.hec.gov.pk/) at
least three days before the deadline. Complaints submitted on the last day will
not be entertained.
7. Test Day Instructions
i. What documents are required on the test day?
Candidates must bring the following documents to the test center:
- • A printed copy of the Roll Number Slip.
- • The original valid CNIC or Passport for identification.
- • Candidates with expired CNIC/Passport will be allowed to appear only upon
presenting the NADRA slip along with the original expired CNIC or Passport.
ii. What should candidates under 18 years of age bring for identification?
Candidates below 18 years must bring the following:
- a. Original B-Form, and
- b. Original Matriculation or Intermediate Result Card bearing their picture
identity (mandatory).
iii. What if a candidate has lost their CNIC?
In case of a lost CNIC, the following original documents are required for identity
verification:
- a. Police Report regarding loss of CNIC.
- b. NADRA Receipt confirming that a new CNIC has been applied for, and
- c. Original Matriculation or Intermediate Certificate / Result Card with picture
identity.
iv. Are photocopies or digital images of identification documents acceptable?
No. Photocopies or digital images of identification documents on mobile phones
or other devices will not be accepted under any circumstances.
v. What stationery items should candidates bring to the test center?
Candidates must bring a transparent clipboard and black or blue ball pens to fill
the OMR (bubble) sheet. Use of lead pencils, fountain pens, or markers is not
permitted.
vi. Are electronic devices allowed inside the test center?
No. The following items are strictly prohibited:
- • Mobile phones
- • Smart watches
- • Calculators
- • Earbuds
• Vapes and other electronic gadgets
Any such item found in the possession of a candidate will be confiscated, and an
unfair means case will be registered against the candidate.
vii. Can candidates appear in the test using another person’s CNIC or an incorrect
CNIC number?
No. Candidates who have registered or applied on the ETC portal using:
- • A CNIC with even a single-digit difference, or
• The CNIC of parents, siblings, or any other individual, will not be allowed
to appear in the test.
