The private sector universities/DAIs who have established the incubation facility through their own resources, were not part of the HEC led entrepreneurial initiatives and programs. To bridge this gap, Higher Education Commission has started the Recognition of Business Incubation Centers at Private Sector Universities/DAIs Program.
Under this program, Private Sector universities / DAIs who are interested in recognition of their already established and fully functional Business Incubation Center can apply for recognition to the Commission.
The interested universities shall have to fulfill the following minimum eligibility criteria before sending their recognition application:
- The university should have an HEC recognized and fully functional ORIC in accordance with HEC ORIC Policy 2021 and Business Incubation Center in line with the minimum requirements outlined under HEC BIC Policy 2021.
- The university should not have an already recognized/funded Business Incubation Center by the HEC, under the consortia model.
- The university should have proven and tangible research commercialization / entrepreneurial ecosystem.
This arrangement will help the private sector universities to take part in HEC led startup competitions, along with rigorous participation in national and international capacity building and networking initiatives taken by HEC. The Recognition of Business Incubation Centers model will not involve any funding / financial commitment from the Commission.
