The Higher Education Commission (HEC) is an autonomous institution established by the Government of Pakistan under Ordinance No. LIII of 2002 and is responsible for the evaluation, improvement, and promotion of higher education, research and development in the country.
The National Academy of Higher Education (NAHE) serves as the national hub for capacity building and continuous professional development of faculty members, academic leaders, higher education institution (HEI) management staff, to improve the quality of teaching, research and academic governance of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) across Pakistan.
National Faculty Development Program Tier-II focused on improving the management and administrative skills of faculty members at the level of Associate Professors. Tier II comprises eight different modules which are being delivered by experienced NAHE-approved resource persons in 40 different sessions and 60 contact hours, spread over two weeks.
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Faculty Development
Faculty development is essential for advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in higher education settings. By improving the capabilities and effectiveness of university faculty, institutions can better contribute to multiple SDGs. Faculty development aligns with and supports following SDGs:

By investing in faculty development, educational institutions can significantly advance the SDGs, ensuring quality education for all and fostering innovation, and promote sustainable development across various sectors

- Equip faculty members with the strategies and tools to overcome the challenges of learners and develop skills in lesson planning and delivery
- Enable faculty members for utilizing conventional, virtual and blended modes of learning.
- Provide a foundation and development plan for new faculty members to be in‐volved in assessment and evaluation of students' learning
