It is in the interest
of Higher Education Commission to promote higher education in all fields of
Natural and Social Sciences. According to HEC’s records, 18% of the PhD funding
has been awarded to Social Science programs. At the same time, Biological,
Physical (including Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, and Computer) and
Agricultural Sciences award numbers are comparatively lower. HEC is currently
focusing on exploring gaps in the low application turn over from students in
these fields.
In order to ensure the awardees have access to quality education, HEC encourages the applicants to apply in technologically advanced countries. This enables students to gain international exposure in high-ranking institutions and gain access to modern research infrastructure and frameworks. For this reason, applicants from Top 100 International Institutions are given preference.
