Social Sciences Section (Academics Division) was established in fiscal year 2003-04 by the Higher Education Commission, Pakistan with the responsibilities of identifying realities of diverse social and human issues. It has initiated plans for social transformation by building knowledge and expertise on key social and cultural issues and encouraged Social Scientists and Researchers in carrying out meaningful research for national benefit.
The Social Sciences section right from its establishment has taken several steps in boosting research culture and exploring new avenues for Social Scientists to conduct research in emerging areas of social sciences. The Social Sciences section has achieved success in promoting research in social science sector, however, there is still a need to boost-up dormant academic developments and research to remove the hurdles that are on the way towards achieving prosperity in this sector. The most important requirement in this context is the strengthening of the existing infrastructure, systems and intellectual resources coupled with the improvement of performance and processes in order to effectively achieve its goals and objectives.
