Ehsaas Undergraduate Scholarship ProgramEhsaas Undergraduate Scholarship Program
Education beyond intermediate is one of the ways to overcome poverty. However, access to higher education is itself distributed very unevenly. For example, only 0.4% of the children from the lowest income quintile (from the relevant age cohort) are enrolled in higher education institutions, which is far below the national average of 10%. Ehsas scholarships aim to eliminate this source of unequal access.

According to the National Human Development Report 2017, Pakistan is one of the youngest country in the world. Realizing its demographic reality which has a population of around 220 million out of which more than half are of university age cohort, the priority of Government of Pakistan is to work on such programs which give drive to provide access to financially deserving and also encourages gender equity. The strategy is to create opportunities for a sizeable segment of youth to bring them under the net of higher education and create equal education opportunities for all.

06-11-2019 05:59:32
Prime Minister’s Electric Wheelchair Scheme for University StudentsPrime Minister’s Electric Wheelchair Scheme for University Students
Supporting Youth and promoting Higher Education is one of the top priorities of the current democratic government of Pakistan. It has a broad canvas of schemes aimed at enabling youth to get access to higher education, internships, trainings and then getting relevant jobs or entrepreneurship career path.

In this connection, one of the great initiatives of the Government is the scheme for distributing Motorized/Electric Wheelchairs to disabled students studying in Public Sector Universities of Pakistan with the objective to facilitate them in their movements in order to complete their higher education, and enable them to contribute effectively towards the progress of the country.

This scheme is aligned with the United Nation's Standard Development Goals (SDGs) projecting, 'By 2030 eliminate gender disparities in education and ensure equal access to all levels of education and vocational training for the vulnerable persons with disabilities, indigenous people and children in vulnerable situations'. Pakistan has signed a treaty on September 15, 2008 in the United Nations Convention on "Rights of Persons with Disabilities", and ratified on July 5, 2011. As per data of Census 1998, there were 622,025 disabled (crippled) persons in Pakistan. Out of these 21,925 were enrolled in different public and private sector schools, colleges and universities in Pakistan.

OBJECTIVE

The main objective of the scheme is to facilitate special students having ambulatory disability, so that they can be assisted in their movements and contribute effectively towards the progress of the country.
VISION:

Inclusive Development Leaving No One Behind

DESCRIPTION:

Ambulatory disabilities are those that have an impact on one's ambulation. This includes people who limp, who experience pain when walking, who cannot walk unaided, who use wheelchairs-canes-walkers and whose walk is impaired because of a physical difference.

Ambulatory disability means a disability because of which a person:

Has a physical and permanent disability to such a degree that the person is unable to move from place to place without the aid of a wheelchair;

Is not able to cross curbs because of paralysis or loss of function of the person's legs;

Is missing one or both legs; or

Has a permanently impaired or unsteady gait that makes it impossible or impractical to walk as a means of transportation.

EXECUTION:

The execution and operational phases would be looked after by HEC, via ensuring that the distribution is being made transparently and on merit to those students, who fulfill the eligibility criteria for the program.

Based on the criteria, the list of students declared eligible to receive the wheel chair would be shared with the respective universities. The student would also be informed via email and a letter addressed at his residential address to collect the wheel chair through the University's relevant department. The Universities via HEC Regional Centers would be responsible to deliver the wheel chair to the concerned student and forward a receiving to the HEC in this regard.

The details of the vendor would be shared with the student, so that any repair or service during the warranty period may be made immediately and free of cost.

03-12-2019 10:17:37
PM's National Laptop SchemePM's National Laptop Scheme

Prime Minister's Youth Program is a special initiative launched by the Government of Pakistan in 2013 for five (05) years. The Youth Program comprises of several schemes including Prime Minister's Interest Free Loan Scheme, Prime Minister's Youth Business Loans, Prime Minister's Youth Training Scheme, Prime Minister's Youth Skills Development Scheme, Prime Minister's Fee Reimbursement Scheme for Students from Less Developed Areas and Prime Minister's Laptops Scheme.

Prime Minister's Laptops Scheme is for Talented Students with the main objective of this scheme is an attempt to enhance the scope of research and quality education in the country and increase the access to information technology.

Objectives

Investment in youth not only has the highest rate-of-return (ROI), but has also been recognized as the best long-term investment for prosperous future of any nation, with a positive demographic dividend. Many large countries have transformed their challenge of big populations with high growth rate into opportunities to bolster their economies by empowering their youth with marketable skills. This realization by the government was the catalyst that crystalized the project to empower youth by giving them laptops for their academic and research activities.

Distribution of laptops is envisioned to bring a paradigm shift in the current education and research culture in the country. In this information age, personal computing devices, like a laptop, is a must especially for students at higher education level. Keeping this reality in consideration and realizing the limited number of laptops availability for the program, HEC preference is to give these laptops to those who is at the beginning of their academic years as to avail maximum benefits of this initiative.

<span lang="EN" style="font-family:"lato regular";font-size:10.5pt;">Prime Minister's Laptop Scheme – Phase IV & V (2017)

<span lang="EN" style="color:#5f5f5f;font-family:"lato regular";font-size:10.5pt;">This scheme was launched in 2013-14 with a target to procure and distribute 100,000 laptops amongst the students studying in Pakistan and AJ&K.
