The Faculty Exchange Program is designed to enhance teaching and research collaboration of Pakistani institutions and faculty with top 300 partner institutions around the world. The program allows Pakistani faculty to go abroad and foreign faculty from technological advanced countries to visit Pakistan.
The program is open to all disciplines and is accessible to HEC recognized public sector universities/degree awarding institutions. Emphasis will be placed on purposeful exchange with defined activities and tangible outcomes.
Pre-visit Agreement
Before initiating any exchange program the research areas for collaboration and the visit activities will be identified. A generic agreement will be signed between the institutions which will cover the purpose of visit and its tangible outcomes.
The program is open to the following:
All HEC recognized public sector universities/degree awarding institutions can submit proposals to invite foreign faculty and send their faculty abroad
under FEP.
The program will cater the faculty exchange to/from top three hundred (300) foreign universities in ranking.
Duration of Stay
- The minimum duration of visit is two weeks except for academic sabbatical where the duration will depend upon the availability of faculty but not more than sixteen weeks or a regular semester.
- The visiting foreign faculty may also spend time in more than one institution; the entire plan must be mentioned clearly in the application form and approved by the host institution as well.
- The duration must be appropriately aligned with its purpose and thematic focus. Short-term visits may cover activities such as lectures or workshops, while long-term visits should address broader objectives, including curriculum development and academic reforms etc.
Purpose of the Visit (Foreign Faculty to Pakistan)
The purpose of visit may include but not limited to;
- Provide expert advice on launch of new academic programs including in collaboration with foreign institutions.
- Guidance on the development of new curriculums or review the exiting curriculums.
- Guidance/help in developing new research proposals.
- Act as a resource person in short term training, or university specialized lab techniques, or review processes and procedures.
- Teach one or more courses.
- Organize conferences, workshops, seminars/talks. However, this cannot be the main activity.
- Build inter-university collaboration.
Purpose of the Visit (Pakistani Faculty to Abroad)The purpose of visit of Pakistani Faculty abroad may include but not limited to;
- Develop appreciation and better understanding of foreign cultures, academic practices, academic standards, and academic institutions.
- Gain and practice newly acquired skills upon return to parent HEIs. These may include effective teaching skills, research skills, fundraising skills, skills relevant to campus internationalization, and skills relevant to student services ad campus management.
- Personal and professional development.
- Bring international perspectives and practices to classrooms.
- Learn about different education systems and assessment methods.
- Build an international network for joint collaborations.
- Introduced Pakistan academic perspective to foreign students and faculty members, serve as an informal ambassador of Pakistani academia in host institution.
- Promote soft image of Pakistan and deliver lecture on south Asian perspective with specific focus on Pakistan Role.
- Influence/encourage foreign students/faculty to visit Pakistan.
- Facilitate admission of Pakistani students to the host institution.
