Innovative,
Impactful and Collaborative Research
The Higher Education Commission (HEC) launched an extensive Research Capacity Building initiative in collaboration with the British Council and Coventry University, UK. The primary objective of this program was to enrich the research environment by equipping research professionals with contemporary skills and techniques through training programs conducted by international experts.

Project objectives
- Grow researcher capacity and enable them to achieve high success rate in winning large scale national and international research grants
- Grow a population of grant reviewers that understand and are able to promote and apply international best practice in grant review
- Enhance the capacity of university ORICs in research management and commercialization support to researchers
- Train and support the Principal Investigators (PIs) & Co-PIs)
- Benchmark the HEC research grant review process against international standards
Participants:
A total of 1,024 participants underwent extensive trainings of 4-5 days.
This initiative has significantly benefited faculty members in Pakistani universities, enriching their knowledge and enabling them to compete successfully for research grants. Reviewers have enhanced their project evaluation skills, and ORICs are now better equipped to collaborate with faculty. Researchers have gained valuable insights into contemporary project trends, highlighting the program's highly valuable impact.
