The selection process consists of four tiers to ensure transparency and merit-based evaluation. In the first stage, all submitted applications are thoroughly scrutinized, and only complete and eligible applications are shortlisted for further consideration. In the second stage, shortlisted applications are evaluated by relevant subject experts, and applicants recommended by the experts proceed to the interview stage. In the third stage, recommended candidates are invited to appear before the interview panel. In the final stage, the merit list is prepared based on the approved weightage criteria(batch58 onwards), whereby 80% weightage is assigned to interview marks and 20% weightage to the ranking of the foreign university. The final merit list is then submitted for approval to the Executive Director, Higher Education Commission (HEC).
