​​​​Equipping Students and Higher Education Institutions with Modern Technology ($ 73.535 M)

Following the establishment of HEC, an emphasis was placed on optimum use of information technologies to enhance opportunities for higher education. Taking advantage of these developments, a horde of ambitious programs of computerization, networking, service delivery, application development etc., are introduced across the board in the higher education sector in Pakistan. To address this, Component 3 will scale up the IT initiatives of HEC and the higher education sector and strive to meet the targets mentioned in Vision 2025 document.

A key feature is to acquire latest higher education technology and make it available to the universities in Pakistan at a reduced cost. These systems will greatly improve the efficiencies of these institutions.

Below are the key activities under this component:

1. Update policy framework for ICT, online learning, and cyber security.
2. Establish High-Performance Computing Services (HPC).
3. Expand cloud services.
4. Develop blockchain and Identity and Access Management (IAM) systems.
5. Acquire Learning Management Systems (LMS) for Higher Education Institutions (HEIs).
   
6. Upgrade of ERP solution at HEC.
7. Develop data warehouse and Business Intelligence platform.
8. Implement blended learning tool including development of a central MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) platform.
9. Implement ERP and Student Life Cycle systems in 25 universities across Pakistan.
   

All these have to be well integrated to support higher education data on national and regional level, producing management reports to facilitate informed decision making.
